JPEG, which is commonly used, compresses data using the characteristics of the human eye. Therefore, it can compress data into a small size while still maintaining a pleasing image. However, image quality is still lost due to the compression process.
As shown in the pictures below, the JPEG compression process is done by dividing the image into small blocks, which negatively affects the image by giving it a mosaic appearance.
Also, the gradation of the color tone is rougher than the original color tone from the image sensor. Therefore, the color tone is lost during the adjustment process.
